I call it “practicing” happiness because it definitely takes some practice. Just like any habit, it takes time, consistency and hard work to get those happy muscles working. Here’s a peek into how I do it on a daily basis. This list may look different for you, but I encourage you to write down those things you are committing to do daily and weekly to choose happy.
- Being grateful every day for the simple things.
- I exercise daily which helps me relax and get into a meditational space.
- While driving I jam out to my favorite music and re-visit gratefulness.
- I get sleep, I eat well, I enjoy my kids without rushing them or myself.
- Dinner is a big deal at my house with my children.
- We are also an active family and since my belief is no one gets outside “too much” we take adventures.
“They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.” – Tom Bodett
